About Author

Hi, I got into writing because I had stories in my mind that wanted to escape and flourish. Fueling my story inspirations were the works of Tom Clancy, Michael Crichton, Harold Robbins, and many other authors.

Born and raised in Caracas, Venezuela, with my father working in the American oil industry, I grew up immersed in both the South American and U.S. culture and geopolitics. At 14, I left to attend boarding school in New England, where I discovered a passion for flying and earned my private pilot’s license when I was 16.

I went on to attend Duke University, and later I earned a doctorate in dentistry at Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas, Texas. After practicing dentistry in San Diego for 14 years, I moved with my wife and two children to Austin. For the next 30 years I continued my dental career, while pursuing my passion with writing and painting. My abstract art paintings are on display at richjonesart.com.
